An aromatherapy massage pairs classic full-body strokes with essential oils chosen for you before the session starts. At U Spa in Al Barsha it costs AED 550 for 60 minutes, AED 800 for 90 and AED 1,100 for two hours, which makes it the most affordable massage on our menu and, for many guests, the one they come back to. We work daily from 10 AM to 5 AM at the Donatello Hotel, five minutes from Mall of the Emirates.

How the oils actually work

Massage movements warm the skin and open circulation, and that is what lets the oils do more than smell pleasant. Worked in with pressure, the aromatic compounds reach the bloodstream faster than they would from a diffuser or a bath, so the calming or energising effect arrives during the session rather than after it.

The choice of oil sets the direction. Lavender and chamomile settle a racing head before sleep. Citrus blends wake you up without the espresso. Eucalyptus clears breathing after a day in air conditioning. Tell the therapist how you want to leave the room and the blend follows from that; if you have a favourite, ask for it by name.

Who books it

This is the massage for stress rather than for sports injuries. The pressure is moderate, closer to a Swedish massage than to deep tissue work, and the point is the combined effect of touch and scent on the nervous system. Guests book it after flights, before big weeks, and at 1 AM when sleep refuses to come; the late hours exist for exactly that. If you want the same relaxation without the aroma layer, the full body massage is the plain version.

At AED 550 it also answers the question every visitor eventually asks: what does a proper massage in Dubai cost when a licensed spa does it without resort markup. This is the number.

FAQ

How much does an aromatherapy massage cost in Dubai?
At U Spa, AED 550 for 60 minutes, AED 800 for 90, AED 1,100 for 120. It's the lowest-priced massage on our menu, VAT included.

Which oil should I choose?
Say what you need: sleep, energy, clear breathing or plain calm. The therapist picks the blend from there. Lavender for winding down and citrus for the opposite are the two most requested.

Is aromatherapy massage strong enough for muscle knots?
The pressure is moderate by design. For stubborn knots book a deep tissue or sports session instead; aromatherapy is about the nervous system more than the muscle fibre.

Can I have it late at night?
Yes. We take bookings until around 4 AM, and evening aromatherapy before sleep is one of the most common orders.

Are the oils safe for sensitive skin or pregnancy?
Mention allergies or pregnancy when you book. Some oils are skipped in those cases and the therapist will adjust the blend, or advise a different massage where that's wiser.
