At U Spa in Al Barsha the hour starts at AED 550 for aromatherapy, AED 600 for the classics and AED 750 for deep tissue or sports work, VAT included. Hotel and resort spas price above that band, sometimes well above it. Small neighbourhood shops price below it, and usually for reasons you can see in the room.

What you pay for, in order of impact
Duration. The largest single factor, and the one people underestimate. Sixty minutes is one region done properly. Ninety is a full body without hurrying. Two hours is a full body at depth. Our grid is close to linear, so a short session carries no penalty and a long one buys no discount; you are simply buying therapist time.
Technique. Aromatherapy sits at the bottom of most menus because it is moderate-pressure oil work. Deep tissue and sports massage cost more because they are physically harder to deliver and need a therapist trained to do them without injuring anyone. Speciality work sits higher again.
How many hands. A four-hands session is two therapists working simultaneously, so the price reflects two salaries for the hour. Six hands is three. This is the most honest line item on any spa menu.
Where the room is. A treatment room inside a five-star resort carries the resort's rent, and the massage inside it is priced accordingly. That does not automatically make it a better massage. What it reliably buys is the surrounding experience: pool access, longer changing rituals, a sea view on the walk back.
When you come. Almost every spa in the city is quieter before mid-afternoon than after 19:00, and the ones that admit it out loud discount the morning.

The two legitimate ways to pay less
Arrive before 15:00. The Early Bird rate is AED 400 for a classic 60-minute session, which is a quarter to a third off the standard price for the same therapists, the same room and the same hour. It exists because our mornings are quieter than our nights, and it is the single largest discount on the menu.
Bring someone. Two guests booking together each pay 20% less on any treatment. Combined with the daytime rate, a weekday late morning is the cheapest hour to have a massage in this building.
Everything else that promises a lower number usually costs you something else: a 45-minute "hour", a shared room, a therapist working a fourteenth consecutive session, or a licence you would rather not ask about.
What a habit actually costs
Most people asking about price are really asking whether this can be a routine rather than a treat. The arithmetic is friendlier than expected. One 60-minute classic session a month at the standard rate is AED 7,200 a year. On the Early Bird rate it is AED 4,800, which is less than many gym memberships in this city and considerably less than the physiotherapy that untreated tension eventually books for you.
Two people going monthly on the friend discount pay AED 960 a month between them for two full hours each. Put that next to a dinner for two in Downtown and the comparison stops being embarrassing for the spa.
What is not in the price
Nothing is added at the till. VAT is inside every number on this page, the room and shower are included, and there is no towel charge, no locker charge and no service supplement.
Tipping is discretionary in the UAE and never expected. Guests who leave something usually leave AED 20 to 50 for a session they liked, and nobody who leaves nothing is treated differently the following month.
