Moroccan Bath in Dubai

A Moroccan bath is a steam and scrub ritual that removes the dead skin your shower never reaches. At U Spa in Al Barsha, the classic session takes 45 minutes and costs AED 550. The Royal version adds a mask and a longer scrub for AED 700. We're open every day from 10 in the morning until 5 AM, so you can come after work or after midnight, whichever suits your Dubai schedule.

What happens during the session

You start in a warm steam room. Ten to fifteen minutes of heat softens the skin and opens the pores. Nothing is required of you at this stage except sitting still, which most guests find surprisingly difficult on the first visit and surprisingly pleasant on the second.

Then the attendant applies beldi, the traditional Moroccan black soap made from olives. It stays on your skin for a few minutes while the steam does its work. After that comes the part the whole ritual is named for: a full-body scrub with a kessa glove. The glove is rough. That's the point. You will see rolls of grey dead skin coming off, even if you exfoliate at home. First-timers usually stare at their own forearms in disbelief.

The session ends with a rinse and, in the Royal version, a rhassoul clay mask and a moisturising treatment. You leave with skin that feels like it belongs to someone five years younger.

Classic or Royal?

If it's your first hammam, the classic bath is enough to understand why people have been doing this for centuries. If your skin is dry from air conditioning and desert sun, which in Dubai means everyone, the Royal version earns its price with the mask alone.

Why do it regularly

One session gives you clean, smooth skin. Regular sessions, every three to four weeks, keep ingrown hairs down, help with uneven tone, and prepare the skin before laser or tanning. Many of our regulars book a Moroccan bath first and a full body massage right after, while the muscles are already warm from the steam. That combination is the closest thing to a factory reset we know of.

The pairing is official menu, not improvisation: the Standard Body Treatment bundles a 60-minute massage with the classic 45-minute bath for AED 1,200, and the Royal Body Treatment pairs the massage with the hour-long Royal bath for AED 1,400. Booked as a bundle, the rooms are reserved back to back and you walk from steam to table without waiting.

FAQ

How often should I get a Moroccan bath?
Every three to four weeks. Skin renews itself in roughly 28 days, so more frequent scrubbing doesn't add much and can irritate sensitive skin.

Should I shave or do laser before the bath?
Do the bath first. The scrub lifts ingrown hairs and clears dead skin, which makes shaving or laser afterwards cleaner and less irritating. Leave at least a day between them.

Can couples book together?
Yes. We have a couples option, and the Moroccan bath pairs well with a couple massage afterwards. Mention it when booking so we reserve the right rooms back to back.

Is a Moroccan bath okay for sensitive skin?
Usually yes, but tell the attendant before you start. The kessa scrub pressure can be adjusted, and we skip the glove on areas with active irritation, sunburn or broken skin.

What should I bring?
Nothing. Towels, disposable underwear and all products are provided. Come as you are; leave your makeup at home, it won't survive the steam anyway.
